Thousands of residents of Kano State on Saturday trooped out to welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf following his engagements with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja. The Historica Nigeria reports that Yusuf was also part of an APC delegation that visited Bauchi State in a move to persuade Governor Bala Mohammed to join the ruling party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, Mohammed has yet to formally declare his new political affiliation after his reported fallout with the PDP. The development comes amid shifting political alliances in Kano, following recent engagements involving Yusuf and his estranged political mentor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, alongside Peter Obi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The meeting, described by insiders as “critical,” was led by Senator Kawu Sumaila and held at his office, drawing the attendance of key members of the House of Representatives, including Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Abdulmumin Jibrin and Abdullahi Rogo. The development comes on the heels of a noticeable rift within political ranks in Kano, following the reported absence of Sumaila and Rurum from an enlarged meeting earlier convened by Governor Yusuf with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State and National Assembly.
