The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has urged investors to explore emerging development corridors and satellite towns across Abuja, saying ongoing infrastructure projects are creating new opportunities beyond the capital’s traditional high-end districts.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, represented by the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, stated this on Wednesday at the opening of the Abuja Business and Investment Expo (ABIE) 3.0, organised by Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL) in Abuja.

Bunkure, speaking on behalf of the FCT Minister, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment and attracting credible local and international investments into the Territory.

She said the administration was opening up new areas through investments in roads, bridges and other infrastructure across the six Area Councils, creating opportunities for residential, commercial and industrial development.

Wike said the next phase of Abuja’s development would extend beyond Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse and the Central Business District to include satellite towns, emerging communities and other investment corridors across the FCT.

He identified real estate, transportation, agriculture and agro-processing, tourism, healthcare, education, renewable energy, technology, digital services, entertainment, waste management and urban infrastructure as sectors offering significant investment opportunities.

The FCT Minister said the administration was also strengthening land administration, expanding digital processes and simplifying approval procedures to make it easier for genuine investors to do business in the Territory.

He, however, warned that the administration would not compromise the Abuja Master Plan or allow fraudulent activities to undermine orderly development.

“Ease of doing business does not mean the absence of regulation. We will support and protect genuine investors, but we will not protect land speculators, fraudulent developers or businesses that disregard the law,” Wike said.

He urged investors to take advantage of emerging opportunities in satellite towns and agricultural communities, stressing that private-sector investment would be crucial to expanding economic activities and supporting Abuja’s next phase of development.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. Emomotimi Agama, said the capital market could provide long-term financing for infrastructure projects required to support the expansion of Abuja.

Earlier, the Group Managing Director of Abuja Investments Company Limited, Amb. Maureen Tamuno, said the expo was designed to connect investors with opportunities across key sectors of the FCT economy.
