The Office of the Honourable Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has distanced itself from reports and publications suggesting that certain individuals have been appointed into positions linked to the minister’s office.

In a disclaimer issued on Sunday by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Austine Elemue, the office clarified that Mr. Elemue remains the only officially recognised and duly appointed media aide to the Honourable Minister of State, FCT, and the sole person authorised to issue media statements and official communications on her behalf, except where otherwise expressly directed.

The statement specifically addressed reports concerning Mr. Bin Usman Rano, stressing that he is not an aide attached to the Office of the Honourable Minister of State, FCT.

According to the statement, Mr. Rano’s activities are understood to be connected with the Dr. Mariya Support Group, a political movement established to mobilise support among women and youths for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the second-term bid of Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The minister’s office emphasised that any appointments, designations, announcements, or authorisations issued by Mr. Rano are strictly related to the affairs of the support group and have no connection whatsoever with the Office of the Honourable Minister of State, FCT, or the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

The statement further advised members of the public, media organisations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to disregard any claim, appointment letter, or communication that creates the impression that such appointments originated from the Minister’s office.

The office reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and proper communication through officially designated channels and authorised representatives.
