Ganduje gets key role as Tinubu unveils APC 2027 campaign council
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the full composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, with former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, appointed Director of Stakeholders’ Mobilisation.
The expanded campaign council, released by the Presidency on Saturday, comprises 223 members and provides a detailed structure for coordinating the ruling party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
President Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice-Chairmen I and II respectively.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary.

Ganduje’s appointment as Director of Stakeholders’ Mobilisation places the former Kano governor at the head of one of the campaign’s key political structures, responsible for engaging and coordinating influential stakeholders ahead of the election.
The appointment also gives Kano and the North-West a prominent position within the campaign council. Senator Jibril Barau was appointed Deputy Director-General North III, while Governor Uba Sani was named North-West Zonal Campaign Coordinator.
Other North-West figures include Muntaqha Rabe, appointed Zonal Director for Election Planning, Coordination and Mobilisation; Abdulazeez Abubakar Kaka, Zonal Director of Youth Mobilisation; and Senator Aliyu Wamakko, who was appointed Zonal Coordinator for Stakeholders’ Mobilisation.
The council has directorates covering finance and fundraising, election planning, policy and manifesto development, legal affairs, media and strategic communication, security and intelligence, data management, youth and women mobilisation, sports, education, manufacturing and MSMEs, faith-based mobilisation, labour relations, special duties, community support, digital operations, grassroots engagement and welfare.
Under the stakeholders’ mobilisation directorate headed by Ganduje, Senator Aliyu Wamakko will coordinate activities in the North-West, while Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya will coordinate the North-East and Senator Sani Musa will oversee the North-Central.
The council also includes former APC National Chairman Bisi Akande, former Nasarawa State Governor Senator Abdullahi Adamu, former Imo State Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha, veteran journalist and politician Segun Osoba and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa as advisers to the Chairman.
The campaign structure further assigns senior responsibilities to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senator Bamidele Opeyemi, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Femi Gbajabiamila, James Faleke and other senior party figures.
The APC has also established state campaign councils, with state APC executives, serving ministers from each state, candidates for the National and State Assemblies, elected APC local government chairpersons and other campaign structures expected to participate.
The expanded structure is expected to form the political and organisational framework through which the APC will prosecute President Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
Ganduje’s appointment is particularly notable given his previous roles as Kano State Governor and APC National Chairman. Earlier in 2026, political supporters had advocated his appointment as Director-General of Tinubu’s 2027 campaign, citing his experience in grassroots politics and his extensive political network.
With his eventual appointment as Director of Stakeholders’ Mobilisation, Ganduje will now play a central role in the APC’s efforts to consolidate support among political stakeholders as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
