Mariya Bunkure empowers 44 APC women leaders with N100,000, attire each

The Minister of State Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure has empowered APC women leaders from Kano State’s 44 Local Government Areas with N100,000 each and women’s attire as part of an initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots participation, supporting livelihoods and deepening unity among women in the party.
The engagement, held on Sunday, brought together APC women leaders from across the 44 local government areas for a special meeting focused on women’s empowerment, political participation and stronger collaboration ahead of the 2027 elections.
Each of the 44 local government APC women leaders received N100,000, in addition to women’s attire provided to the participants.
The gathering was attended by the 44 APC women leaders, their deputies and ex-officio members, as well as state-level women leaders, political stakeholders and other party supporters.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with APC women across Kano State, stressing the importance of unity, grassroots mobilisation and greater participation of women in political and community affairs.

She said she would continue to collaborate with women leaders towards strengthening the party and contributing to its success in the 2027 elections.
The Minister also expressed her commitment to supporting the political efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Kano State leadership ahead of the forthcoming elections.
She emphasised the need for sustained engagement with women at the grassroots, noting their importance to political mobilisation and community development.
Speaking at the gathering, Associate Professor Amina Abdullahi Ganduje commended Dr. Bunkure for her continued support for women and her efforts to use her position to benefit members of society.
Amina stressed the importance of having women in positions of responsibility, noting that women are often better placed to understand and respond to challenges affecting their fellow women.
“Women understand the problems of fellow women better. Many men may only hear about these challenges,” she said.
She described Dr. Bunkure’s appointment as an example of how women in positions of authority can make a positive impact by supporting other women.
Amina also called for greater support for women seeking elective positions, citing a female aspirant contesting for a seat in the Kano State House of Assembly from Kunchi Local Government Area.
She urged the APC women leaders to support female aspirants and continue advocating for greater opportunities for women in political leadership and governance.
The Kano State APC Women Leader, Hajiya Fatima Abdullahi Dala, expressed appreciation to Dr. Bunkure for her support for women across the state, particularly APC women leaders at the grassroots.
Dala said the initiative demonstrated the importance of maintaining strong relationships between party leadership and women across the 44 local government areas.
She also expressed appreciation to former Kano State Governor and immediate past National Chairman of APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and his wife, Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for their contribution to creating opportunities that have enabled women to receive support and participate actively in political and community affairs.
The gathering was attended by political leaders and stakeholders from the Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure axis, led by Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria.
Also present was Dr. Abdullahi Isa Kauran Mata, Special Adviser to the Minister of State FCT, alongside other APC stakeholders and political leaders.
