President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, days after the governor secured re-election in the August 15 governorship election.

Adeleke arrived at the forecourt of the State House at exactly 5:25pm on Thursday, accompanied by senior officials and political associates from Osun State.

The meeting comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke winner of the election, having secured 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won the election by a margin of 66,252 votes, securing victory in 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.

President Tinubu had personally congratulated Adeleke after his victory, describing the outcome as “a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our country.”

The President also urged the governor to use his renewed mandate to unite the people of Osun State irrespective of their political affiliations.

Also seen arriving at the State House around 5:40pm were the Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the council, Sunday Bisi; the Osun State Governor’s Chief of Staff, Akinleye Kazeem; and Bamidele Salam, member of the House of Representatives representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency.

Adeleke’s re-election has attracted significant political attention, particularly following his decision to contest the election on the platform of the Accord Party after the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) adopted his candidacy and directed its structures to support his re-election bid.

His visit to the Presidential Villa is therefore generating political interest, coming against the backdrop of growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting also follows recent engagements between President Tinubu and political leaders as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 electoral season.
