Aisha Buhari meets Atiku, purpose of visit undisclosed

Former First Lady Aisha Buhari has paid a visit to former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja.

Atiku disclosed the visit on his social media platforms on Wednesday, describing the meeting with the former First Lady as “warm and deeply appreciated.”

The purpose of the visit was not disclosed by either Aisha Buhari or Atiku as of the time of filing this report.

Aisha was accompanied by one of her daughters and some associates during the visit.

Reacting to the meeting, Atiku said the visit was a reminder of the responsibility facing those seeking a better Nigeria, particularly the need to prioritise the welfare, dignity and future of citizens.

“Today, I was delighted to receive former First Lady, H.E. Aisha Buhari. Her visit was warm and deeply appreciated,” Atiku said.

“Beyond the courtesies of the occasion, it was also a reminder of the urgent responsibility before all who seek a better Nigeria: to put the welfare, dignity and future of our people first.”

The former Vice-President used the occasion to highlight what he described as the economic difficulties facing Nigerian households.

He said families across the country were being stretched by rising costs of food, transportation, education, healthcare and other basic necessities.

According to Atiku, Nigerians deserve an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunities and enables families to live with dignity and hope.

“That is the Nigeria we must build together, a country that works for its people again,” he said.

He added that his priority was to ease the burden on Nigerians, restore hope and “Make Nigeria Affordable Again.”
