By Umar Idris Shuaibu, Kano
The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State following his successful screening and adoption of the report of the ad hoc committee constituted for the exercise.

The decision was reached during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Isma’il Falgore, after lawmakers considered and adopted the committee’s recommendations without opposition.

Chairman of the screening committee and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello, informed the House that Garo’s nomination became necessary following the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

He explained that the screening was conducted in line with Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the legislature to confirm a replacement in the event of a vacancy in the office of Deputy Governor.
