PFIPC Scam: Police Drag Fake Agency DG to Court Tuesday

The Nigeria Police Force is set to arraign the alleged Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday over allegations of forgery, impersonation and related offences.

Adeyemi and two others are facing an eight-count charge in suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, filed before the court by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki.

The case, which was initially scheduled for hearing on June 16, was adjourned after Adeyemi was reported to be indisposed. Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently fixed a new date for the defendants to take their plea.

According to court documents, the prosecution has lined up several high-profile witnesses, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede and Ituah Sylvester.

Also listed are officials from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, as well as Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu and Wakili Saidu, who were allegedly deployed to work with Adeyemi at the purported agency.

Other witnesses expected to testify include Joy Ngwoke, owner of Kachi Hotel in Abuja, and Ven. Okoriko, pastor of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Maitama.

The prosecution intends to tender several documentary exhibits, including the police investigation report, a petition submitted by Gbajabiamila dated October 17, 2025, and an alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024.

Other exhibits include correspondence allegedly sent by Adeyemi to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approvals reportedly obtained to open accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), documents relating to self-accounting requests submitted to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, and records purportedly approving the take-off of the fictitious agency.

The prosecution also listed requests allegedly seeking collaboration with government institutions on land acquisition and office accommodation across the 36 states, alongside witness statements, defendants’ statements and photographic evidence.

According to the charge, the prosecution reserves the right to call additional witnesses during the trial to strengthen its case.

Police investigations alleged that Adeyemi operated the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council from the second floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before his arrest.

The development comes days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the alleged fake agency.

The President also gave the anti-corruption agency 30 days to conclude its investigation and submit its findings.
