Air Force Recruitment: NAF Opens Portal for 2026 Enlistment

The Nigerian Air Force has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking enlistment as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women.

The NAF, in a notice posted on its official X handle on Wednesday, said online registration for the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026 would open on September 3 and close on October 14, 2026.

The Service said the recruitment exercise was open to suitably qualified Nigerians interested in joining the Nigerian Air Force as either tradesmen/women or non-tradesmen/women.

According to the notice, registration is free of charge, and applicants are advised to carefully review the eligibility requirements and application guidelines before submitting their applications.

Applicants for the tradesmen/women category must be between 18 and 27 years old by March 1, 2027, while those applying as non-tradesmen/women must be between 18 and 22 years old by the same date.

Candidates must be Nigerian citizens by birth and meet the prescribed physical requirements, including a minimum height of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.

They must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit and satisfy the NAF’s medical and employment standards.

For the tradesmen/women category, applicants with ND or NCE qualifications must have obtained their certificates from accredited institutions and possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS.

Applicants seeking trades that require a Trade Test must possess the relevant Trade Test certificate and meet the applicable Senior Secondary School Certificate requirements. Drivers are also required to have a valid driving licence.

For the non-tradesmen/women category, applicants must possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in the relevant examinations. They must also possess Primary School Certificates and Secondary School Testimonials.

The NAF said successful applicants would be required to complete an Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form.

It explained that the attestation form could be signed by a military officer from the applicant’s state of origin who is not below the rank of Wing Commander in the NAF, or an equivalent rank in the Nigerian Army or Nigerian Navy.

The form may also be signed by a police officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or above, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.

The attestation form must be accompanied by the applicant’s passport photograph and a photocopy of the signatory’s driver’s licence, National Identity Card or international passport.

The Air Force further stated that the zonal general aptitude test for shortlisted applicants would hold on a date to be communicated through the recruitment portal.

Only successful candidates from the recruitment process will be invited for the interview stage.

Applicants are advised to use only the official NAF recruitment portal for registration and to avoid anyone demanding payment in connection with the exercise.
