Gaya Polytechnic takes shape as Kano expands tertiary education infrastructure

The Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Students Matters, Yusuf Jibrin, has inspected ongoing construction and development works at the newly established Gaya Polytechnic as part of a series of visits to tertiary institutions across the state.

Jibrin made the visit on Monday, August 24, 2026, during an inspection of the institution, which is currently undergoing extensive construction and development.

He noted that key academic and administrative facilities had already been established on the campus, including an administrative block, library, computer laboratory, auditorium, lecture rooms and student hostels.

He also observed that additional facilities required for the commencement and effective operation of academic activities were being developed across the institution.

Jibrin said the ongoing development reflected efforts to establish a functional and standard polytechnic capable of providing quality technical and vocational education to students in Kano State.

He explained that the visit was part of his broader assessment of developments in the state’s tertiary education sector.

The Special Adviser said the inspection would also provide an opportunity to document ongoing projects and assess the readiness of institutions to provide conducive learning environments for students.

The development of Gaya Polytechnic comes as the Kano State Government continues to expand infrastructure in the education sector, with the institution expected to contribute to the development of technical skills and human capital in the state.

Jibrin commended the state government for its attention to tertiary education development and expressed optimism that the ongoing works would position Gaya Polytechnic to meet the educational and technical needs of students and the wider community.
