Matawalle: Tinubu administration determined to defeat banditry
The Minister of State for Defence and immediate past Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s determination to defeat banditry and other forms of criminality across the country.
Matawalle gave the assurance in Kaduna on Saturday during an interactive meeting with former members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, former cabinet members and Special Advisers who served during his tenure as governor.
Security dominated discussions at the meeting, with participants deliberating on issues affecting Zamfara State and other communities affected by insecurity.
Matawalle said the protection of lives and property remained one of the foremost responsibilities of any serious government, stressing that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had placed national security high on its agenda.

“Security of lives and property is the major concern of every serious government in any country. That is why the APC-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has focused strongly on securing the nation,” Matawalle said.
He said Tinubu’s commitment to national security was demonstrated through the President’s frequent engagements and consultations on security matters within and outside the country.
The Minister also charged the former lawmakers, cabinet members and Special Advisers to mobilise support for the Tinubu Again Movement and reach out to communities across Zamfara State and beyond ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Earlier, leaders of the various groups represented at the meeting commended Matawalle for what they described as the political structure he had maintained since serving as Governor of Zamfara State from 2019 to 2023.
They also said Matawalle had continued to enjoy the loyalty and support of a significant number of people across Zamfara despite his current responsibilities at the federal level.
The leaders pledged their support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing the success of the President as being in their collective interest.
They further commended Matawalle’s leadership and described him as a politician who had remained concerned about the welfare and aspirations of his supporters.
The statement was signed by Dr Lawal Umar Maradun, Ph.D, FNIPR, ARPA, former Principal Private Secretary to Matawalle, and made available to ‘The Historica Nigeria’ on Sunday.
