Bola Ahmed Tinubu has attributed Nigeria’s persistent electricity challenges to what he described as the poor handling of the privatization of the power sector by previous administrations.
Speaking on the country’s power situation, the President said past decisions in the sector had significantly contributed to the current difficulties being experienced by Nigerians.
“Blame the electricity issue on leaders who gave us terrible privatization of the sector,” he stated.
Tinubu lamented that instead of achieving stable and reliable electricity supply, the country has continued to grapple with recurring outages and widespread blackouts, which he linked to structural deficiencies arising from earlier reforms.

The President, however, assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to addressing the challenges and repositioning the sector for improved performance.
He stressed the need for unity and sustained focus, noting that ongoing economic reforms are aimed at rebuilding the nation and ensuring long-term stability.
Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, insisting that with consistent reforms and collective effort, the country can overcome its challenges and achieve lasting prosperity.
