Kano PCACC chairman Sa’idu Yahaya resigns

The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Sa’idu Yahaya, has reportedly resigned his appointment amid mounting pressure over his performance at the anti-graft agency.

Yahaya’s reported resignation followed pressure from the Kano State Government over what officials considered his failure to meet expectations as chairman of the commission.

However, neither Yahaya nor the Kano State Government had publicly confirmed the development as of the time of filing this report.

Yahaya was appointed chairman of the PCACC in August 2025, following the expiration of the tenure of the former chairman, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado.

His appointment was subsequently approved by the Kano State House of Assembly for a five-year tenure.

In recent months, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had publicly criticised the chairman over what the governor described as non-performance in the leadership of the state’s anti-corruption agency.

A source familiar with the development said the reported pressure on Yahaya could be linked to concerns over his performance and expectations surrounding the commission.

The source also suggested that Yahaya’s professional background as a federal anti-corruption staff member, rather than a political figure, may have shaped his approach to the leadership of the commission.
