The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) has suspended its indefinite strike, with members directed to resume duty on Monday at 8 a.m.
President of the association, Dr. George Ebong, said the decision followed assurances from the Senate Committee on Federal Territory Area Councils, chaired by Senator David Jimkuta. He noted, however, that none of the doctors’ demands had been met.

The doctors, drawn from 14 district and general hospitals in the FCT, had downed tools last week over unpaid salary arrears for members employed since 2023, as well as demands for recruitment of additional staff, settlement of the Medical Residency Training Fund, and arrears from the revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure.
Dr. Ebong said the strike was only suspended to allow for further dialogue and warned that the Congress would reconvene to decide the next action if the government fails to act within the agreed timeframe.
