The deceased was the eldest son of the late Alhaji Muhammad Adamu Dankabo, Jarman Kano and founder of the defunct Kabo Air. The Dankabo family is regarded as one of the most influential in Kano. The late patriarch, Adamu Dankabo, was a notable businessman, politician, and philanthropist, who established Kabo Air in 1980. The airline operated domestic, regional, and international flights before later focusing on charter and Hajj services.

The late Idris Dankabo held the traditional title of Sarkin Gabas, one of the senior offices in the Kano Emirate, with significant cultural and administrative responsibilities.

His death at a relatively young age is seen as a major loss to the emirate and is expected to leave a vacuum in its traditional leadership structure.
