PENGASSAN gets new president as Olabiyi-Agoro succeeds Festus Osifo
Members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) have elected Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro as the association’s new National President.
Olabiyi-Agoro emerged unopposed at PENGASSAN’s first Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Abuja on Saturday, succeeding Festus Osifo, who currently serves as President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
A petroleum engineer, labour leader and industrial relations strategist, Olabiyi-Agoro brings more than two decades of experience in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry to his new position.
He currently works with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Before joining the regulatory commission, he held technical and operational positions with major industry players, including Baker Hughes and EA Temile and Sons.
Olabiyi-Agoro also has extensive academic qualifications. He holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, a Postgraduate Certificate in Computing from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
He is also an alumnus of Government College Ibadan.
The new PENGASSAN president has held several leadership positions within organised labour and the association.
He is the current Chairman of the TUC Oyo State Council and previously served as PENGASSAN National Financial Secretary between 2022 and 2023 and National Auditor from 2020 to 2022.
He also served as Chairman of the Baker Hughes PENGASSAN Branch from 2016 to 2020.
Over the years, Olabiyi-Agoro has participated in several local and international training programmes focused on leadership, negotiation and industrial relations.

His emergence is expected to bring his technical knowledge, industry experience and trade union background to the leadership of the association as it begins a new chapter.
In his acceptance speech, the new PENGASSAN president pledged to prioritise the welfare of workers and continue the legacies established by his predecessor, Festus Osifo.
He also expressed commitment to providing effective leadership for members and advancing the interests of senior staff in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
