Garo Lauds Ganduje Foundation as It Marks 30 Years, Concludes 25th Qur’anic Competition

Kano State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has commended the Ganduje Foundation for its sustained investment in Qur’anic education, youth development and humanitarian service as the organisation celebrated its 30th anniversary and concluded the 25th edition of its annual Qur’anic recitation competition (Musabaƙa).

Garo made the commendation during the closing ceremony of the 25th Ganduje Foundation Musabaƙa in Kano on Sunday, where he described the competition as an important platform for promoting moral values and nurturing future generations of Qur’anic scholars.

He said the annual Musabaƙa has continued to serve as a school of discipline, integrity and good character, helping to shape responsible young Muslims through the teachings of the Holy Qur’an.

The Deputy Governor commended parents and teachers for their dedication to raising young reciters and urged participants to remain ambassadors of honesty, trustworthiness and obedience, describing those virtues as essential pillars for societal development.

He reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to policies that promote education, youth development and moral upbringing.

Garo also appreciated the Founder and Chairman of the Ganduje Foundation, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and his wife, Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, for their longstanding commitment to humanitarian service, praying that Almighty Allah accepts their efforts as an act of continuous charity.

Earlier, former Permanent Secretary in the Kano State Civil Service, also the Secretary of Musabaƙa Committee, Malam Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi, said the Ganduje Foundation was established three decades ago with the primary objective of promoting Islamic values by encouraging righteousness and addressing social challenges affecting communities.

He explained that the foundation was inspired by the Qur’anic injunction calling on believers to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, adding that its programmes have continued to tackle issues such as illiteracy, poverty and social neglect.

According to him, Dr. Ganduje has always maintained that wealth entrusted to an individual is a trust from Almighty Allah and should be used to improve the lives of others, noting that the foundation’s humanitarian activities reflect that enduring philosophy.

In his welcome address, Chairman of the Ganduje Foundation Musabaƙa Committee, Malam Rabi’u Musa Garko, said the foundation’s contributions to improving the lives of people and promoting Qur’anic education over the past 30 years cannot be overemphasised.

He noted that while the ultimate reward for charitable work rests with Almighty Allah, the impact of the foundation has continued to transform lives and produce outstanding young Qur’an reciters across the country.

Malam Rabi’u Musa Garko encouraged participants to remain committed to learning and memorising the Holy Qur’an, expressing optimism that many of them would emerge as champions at future state and national Qur’anic recitation competitions.

He recalled that the foundation has consistently supported outstanding winners to participate in national Musabaƙa competitions, where many have excelled.

“We hope to continue seeing you excel at every stage of the Musabaƙa, including the national competition,” he said.

Also speaking, one of the pioneers of the Musabaƙa and former Director at the Kano Radio Corporation, Malam Nuhu Gudaji, urged contestants to strictly observe the rules and ethics guiding Qur’anic recitation competitions.

He encouraged participants who did not succeed this year not to lose hope, noting that many renowned reciters attained success after making several attempts.

Gudaji advised the young reciters to remain steadfast, disciplined and dedicated to the study of the Holy Qur’an, stressing that perseverance remains one of the keys to excellence.

The Ganduje Foundation, established in 1996, is commemorating 30 years of humanitarian service alongside 25 years of organising its annual Qur’anic recitation competition, an initiative that has produced numerous outstanding reciters who have represented Kano State at national Qur’anic competitions and contributed to the promotion of Islamic values and moral excellence.
