Ganduje leads woman to embrace Islam in Abuja, renamed Fatima

Former Governor of Kano State and immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Tuesday witnessed the conversion of a woman, Justina, to Islam at the mosque located within his residence in the Asokoro District of Abuja.

Following her recitation of the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, Justina was given the Islamic name Fatima, marking the beginning of her new journey in the Islamic faith.

Expressing joy after embracing Islam, Fatima pledged to live her life in accordance with the teachings and principles of the religion.

The conversion ceremony was conducted in the presence of prominent Islamic scholar, Malam Salisu Ahmad Gezawa, and the Chief of Staff to Dr. Ganduje, Muhammad Garba.

The clerics offered prayers, asking Allah to strengthen Fatima in her new faith, increase her in knowledge, faith and piety, and make Islam a source of success for her in this world and the Hereafter.

The development adds to a series of Islamic and humanitarian activities associated with Dr. Ganduje and the Ganduje Foundation, which has continued to support programmes aimed at promoting Islamic education, Qur’anic recitation, religious enlightenment and community development.

In recent years, the foundation has sponsored annual Qur’anic recitation competitions (Musabaqa), supported the construction and renovation of mosques and Islamiyya schools, organised free medical outreach programmes, including eye care services, and provided humanitarian assistance to vulnerable members of society across Kano State and beyond.

The latest event further reflects the foundation’s continued emphasis on promoting Islamic values, religious education and peaceful coexistence through faith-based initiatives and community engagement.
