Nigerian Correctional Service Appoints First Female Spokesperson

The Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Nwakuche, has appointed Chief Superintendent of Corrections (CSC) Jane Osuji as the new Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO). This marks a historic milestone as Osuji becomes the first woman to hold this position.

Osuji, from Imo State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. She joined the NCoS in 2009 and has served in various capacities, including as Assistant Public Relations Officer in Lagos and Public Relations Officer in FCT Command.

She has also served as Press Secretary to three Ministers of Interior and was a staff member of the Public Relations Unit at the NCoS Headquarters.

Osuji succeeds Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) Umar Abubakar, who retired on November 19.
