Rain, thunderstorms expected in Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, Taraba, five others

Residents of several cities across Nigeria are expected to experience varying weather conditions on Thursday, with rain and thunderstorms forecast in parts of the North, North-East, Central Nigeria and the South.

The affected locations include Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, Lafia, Lagos, Gombe, Yola in Adamawa State and Jalingo in Taraba State.

In Kano, residents are expected to experience a mixture of sunshine and cloud cover, with thunderstorms possible in some areas during the afternoon. The city is also expected to record relatively warm temperatures, with the daytime temperature reaching about 33°C.

Kaduna is expected to have cloudy intervals accompanied by possible rainfall and thunderstorms, while Abuja and Lafia may experience humid and unsettled weather, with rain or thunderstorms possible during the day.

In Lagos, humid conditions are expected to persist, with periods of rain or showers likely.

Across the North-East, Gombe may experience warm and humid conditions with possible thunderstorms, while Yola is also expected to record a mixture of warm weather and thunderstorms.

Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, is expected to experience humid conditions with possible showers and thunderstorms.

The forecast indicates that weather conditions may vary considerably within the affected states, particularly in Adamawa and Taraba, where conditions can differ from one locality to another.

Residents are advised to take precautions during thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall, particularly motorists and commuters who may encounter reduced visibility, slippery roads and strong winds.

The weather situation may change as atmospheric conditions develop, making regular updates from relevant meteorological authorities important for residents and travellers.
