Governor Yusuf nominates Garo as running mate for 2027 re-election bid

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially nominated his deputy, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, reaffirming his confidence in the Deputy Governor’s loyalty, commitment and service to the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, following a strategic meeting between the Governor and Federal Political Appointees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held on Monday at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

Governor Yusuf said the decision was informed by Garo’s outstanding loyalty, dedication and commitment to the development of Kano State since assuming office as Deputy Governor.

He expressed satisfaction with the cordial working relationship between them, noting that Garo has consistently demonstrated competence, diligence and a strong sense of responsibility in the discharge of his official duties.

“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” Governor Yusuf declared.

The Governor also passed a vote of confidence on the Deputy Governor, describing him as a dependable partner whose contributions have strengthened the administration’s efforts to deliver meaningful development and improve the welfare of the people of Kano State.

He urged party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united and committed as the administration consolidates on its achievements and intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Governor Yusuf stressed that unity, cooperation and collective commitment among stakeholders would be critical to sustaining the administration’s development agenda and ensuring continued progress for Kano State.
