Gaya Polytechnic gets 8 vehicles as 2026 take-off nears

Gaya Polytechnic has taken delivery of eight official vehicles comprising one Hilux, one Toyota Hiace, five Toyota Corolla cars and one Coaster bus as preparations for the institution’s commencement of academic activities gather momentum.

The vehicles were formally handed over to the Chairman of the Gaya Polytechnic Implementation Committee, Prof. Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, by the contractors handling the construction and development of the institution at the project site.

The vehicles are expected to support the administrative and operational needs of the Polytechnic, with some designated for principal officers while others will be used for transportation and other day-to-day activities.

Speaking during the handover, Kurawa appreciated the contractors for providing the vehicles as part of the logistics required for the institution’s operations.

He also commended members of the Implementation Committee for their dedication and teamwork, saying the progress recorded so far was the result of the collective efforts of the committee, contractors and other stakeholders.

Kurawa further expressed appreciation to the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his support towards the establishment and development of Gaya Polytechnic.

He described the provision of the vehicles as a practical addition to the facilities and logistics being put in place to support the institution’s operations.

The Chairman reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to working with the Kano State Government, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the remaining requirements are delivered as scheduled.

Kurawa had earlier told ‘The Historica Nigeria‘ that the Polytechnic would begin with four courses, with the committee targeting admission of its first batch of students before the end of 2026.

The permanent site of the Polytechnic covers nearly 200 hectares, providing substantial space for its present and future expansion.

The establishment of Gaya Polytechnic followed the passage of its enabling law by the Kano State House of Assembly, which was subsequently assented to by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in November 2025.
