Gunmen kidnap traditional ruler in Kano community
Gunmen have abducted the village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, popularly known as Ruwata.
The incident occurred on Thursday night when armed assailants reportedly stormed the community and took the traditional ruler away. The abduction was confirmed on Friday by Mahi Isma’il, spokesperson to the Zannan Kano and District Head of Jogana.
“We have confirmed the abduction of the village head of Aujarawar Alkali, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, popularly known as Ruwata,” Isma’il said.
He said the incident had created fear and anxiety among residents, while appealing to the people to remain calm and pray for the safe return of the traditional ruler.

“We urge the security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue him and apprehend those behind the abduction,” he added.
The District Head of Jogana and Zannan Kano, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ma’aji, also called on security agencies to strengthen measures to protect lives and property in the area.
Ma’aji prayed for an end to attacks by armed criminals in the community and for the safe return of Ahmad to his family and community.
The latest incident has heightened concerns over armed criminal activities and banditry in vulnerable communities across parts of Kano State.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the reported abduction.
