86 year old Kano traditional leader abducted as gunmen kill three

Gunmen have killed three people, injured five others and abducted an 86-year-old community leader, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo, in Chiromawa, Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State.

Nadabo, who is the owner of Chiromawa Petroleum Station, also holds the traditional title of Sarkin Noman Kano, associated with the leadership of farmers in the state.

The Chairman of Garun Malam Local Government Area, Alhaji Aminu Salisu Kadawa, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

Kadawa said the gunmen invaded the community at about 11pm on Saturday and attacked Nadabo’s residence.

According to him, the attackers opened fire during the incident, killing three people and injuring five others.

“The injured victims are receiving treatment in hospital, while security personnel have been deployed to track down the attackers and rescue the Sarkin Noma,” he said.

The council chairman said he had visited the hospital alongside local government officials to ensure that the injured victims received adequate medical attention.

He appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist in rescuing the abducted community leader and apprehending the attackers.

Kadawa further said the Kano State Government would intensify security measures in the affected area to protect residents and prevent further attacks.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue praying for the safe return of the abducted community leader.
