Ganduje Settles APC Councillors’ Disputes, Groups Merge, Back Tinubu-Shettima

Four groups of serving and former councillors within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have agreed to merge into a single platform following a reconciliation meeting with former APC National Chairman and former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The resolution was reached at a meeting held at Ganduje’s Abuja residence on July 29, 2026, following a dialogue aimed at resolving disputes among the various APC councillors’ forums.

According to the resolutions signed by representatives of the groups, Ganduje was formally adopted as the Grand Patron of the unified forum in recognition of his efforts towards settling the long-standing disagreements among the groups.

The groups that agreed to merge are the Progressive Serving Councilors’ Forum of Nigeria; Coalition of Past and Present APC Councilors of Nigeria for Tinubu/Shettima 2027; National Progressive Councilors’ Forum; and National Association of Past and Present Progressive Councilors.

Under the harmonised arrangement, the groups agreed to operate two platforms covering serving and former APC councillors.

The National Progressive Serving Councilors’ Forum (NPSCF) was adopted as the official forum for serving councillors, while the National Progressive Former Councilors’ Forum was adopted as the platform for former APC councillors.

The resolutions further stated that leadership positions would be shared among the harmonised groups in accordance with the federal character principle.

The meeting also adopted a caretaker committee to take responsibility for the affairs of the forum, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees (BOT) and the Grand Patron.

The groups further resolved to constitute a Board of Trustees to oversee the affairs of both the serving and former progressive councillors’ forums.

Hon. Muslihu Yusuf Ali, identified in the resolutions as the pioneer chairman of the forum, was also resolved to assume the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The groups agreed that any future misunderstanding or dispute involving any of the former groups or their members should be referred to Ganduje for amicable settlement.

As part of the harmonisation process, all groups whose leadership participated in the meeting agreed to relinquish their individual leadership interests and platforms in favour of the unified Progressive Forum.

The forum also resolved to organise a Leadership Summit/Convention for its members as part of efforts to promote peace, unity and the continued progress of the organisation.

In the political sphere, the newly harmonised forum resolved to work for the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections and beyond.

The resolutions were signed by representatives of the participating groups, including Hon. Barrister Muhammad Abubakar Shehu, Director-General; Hon. Muslihu Yusuf Ali, National Chairman; Hon. Sylvester Ari, Director-General; Hon. Hauwa’u Abdullahi, Kaduna State Coordinator; and Hon. Abdulmalik Abubakar, Financial Secretary.
