Ganduje, Keyamo Commission Upgraded Kano Airport Terminal

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commissioned the newly upgraded Dankabo Domestic Terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, marking another milestone in the Federal Government’s drive to modernise aviation infrastructure across the country.

The upgraded terminal features improved baggage handling systems, modern check-in facilities, enhanced passenger lounges, upgraded air-conditioning systems and other critical infrastructure aimed at delivering a more seamless and world-class travel experience.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to transforming airport infrastructure and improving passenger experience across Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), announced the Federal Government’s approval of ₦46 billion for the rehabilitation of the airport’s primary and secondary runways, describing the project as a major investment that will further strengthen Kano’s position as a strategic aviation hub in Northern Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the FAAN Board of Directors, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the projects demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure renewal under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He commended the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and FAAN’s management for delivering projects that enhance airport operations, improve passenger services and support economic growth.

The commissioning of the upgraded terminal and the planned runway rehabilitation are expected to improve operational efficiency, boost passenger comfort and reinforce the role of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport as one of Nigeria’s key aviation gateways.
