Mrs. Kuku commended the resilience of the NFIU and other agencies involved in the collaborative efforts that led to the success, describing it as proof of the nation’s capacity to achieve great things through unity of purpose. She further emphasized FAAN’s contribution to the process, stating that the Authority played a significant and substantive role in achieving the milestone. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the online registration for the 2025 Batch ‘C’ mobilization by 48 hours, setting a new deadline for midnight of Tuesday, November 11, 2025. According to the management, the extension became necessary due to persistent network challenges experienced by some Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) during the registration process. In a statement issued by Caroline Embu, Director of Information and Public Relations, NYSC expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured that efforts were being made to resolve the issues promptly. NYSC also appreciated the patience and understanding of prospective corps members, urging them to take advantage of the extended registration window. “In view of this regrettable development, Management has extended the registration period by 48 hours till midnight of Tuesday, 11 November 2025, to enable our enthusiastic PCMs to conclude their registration,” Embu added. Meanwhile, several prospective corps members have expressed frustration over difficulties accessing the portal. One applicant, Yusuf Abubakar Umar, wrote on Facebook, “I’ve been trying to register since 4 a.m., but like many others, I haven’t received any confirmation email.” The NYSC had earlier announced that registration for Batch ‘C’ would begin on November 4 and close on November 9, 2025, before the extension was announced.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says it will soon introduce a Single Travel Emergency Passport (STEP), a new biometric travel document designed to assist Nigerians abroad whose passports are expired, lost, or stolen to return home safely and verifiably. This was contained in a statement issued by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, on Wednesday in Abuja. According to the statement, the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, made this known during the Joint Thematic Meeting of the Khartoum, Rabat, and Niamey Processes, co-hosted by Nigeria and France in Abuja. Nandap said the introduction of STEP would replace the existing Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) as part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening identity management and border governance in line with global best practices. Nandap added that the initiative underscored the Service’s commitment to efficient service delivery, robust identity protection, and the modernization of travel documentation processes. The meeting, which brought together representatives of the African Union, ECOWAS, the European Union, NAPTIP, and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, focused on strengthening collaboration to combat migrant smuggling and human trafficking. It also emphasized the need for preventive measures, protection of victims, and effective prosecution strategies across regional migration routes. Delivering her keynote address titled “Insights on Prevention and Protection as Strategic Pillars to Effective Law Enforcement and Prosecution Responses,” the CGI highlighted the Service’s reform agenda geared toward enhancing migration management, international cooperation, and capacity building. The statement further noted that Nandap reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to regional and global migration dialogues, pledging that the NIS would continue to align its policies and operations with international standards to promote safe, orderly, and regular migration.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 personnel as part of its ongoing internal reforms aimed at improving professionalism, accountability, and efficiency within the agency. In a statement released on Tuesday via its official social media handles and website, the secret police confirmed that the move was part of a broader effort to strengthen discipline and ensure the integrity of the Service. “As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read. Members of the public are therefore advised to refrain from engaging in any official dealings with these dismissed officers,” it added. The agency further stated that the names of the affected personnel have been published on its official website for public reference. The DSS, also known as the State Security Service (SSS), operates under the Office of the Inspector General of Police. Its core responsibilities include protecting Nigeria’s internal security, preventing and detecting crimes, safeguarding sensitive information, and countering threats such as terrorism, espionage, and economic sabotage. The Service also provides protection for key government officials and facilities, as well as visiting dignitaries, while offering intelligence and security advice to the government.
