Former Kano Commissioners Back Abba-Garo Ticket, Commend Governor’s Choice

The Forum of Former Honourable Commissioners of Kano State who served between 2015 and 2023 has endorsed the governorship ticket of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his running mate, Murtala Sule Garo, describing the nomination as a well-deserved recognition of loyalty, competence and dedicated public service.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Forum of Former Honourable Commissioners of Kano State (2015–2023), made available to journalists.
The forum commended Governor Yusuf for what it described as a bold, thoughtful and statesmanlike decision in nominating Garo as his running mate for the 2027 Kano State governorship election, saying the move reflects the governor’s confidence in Garo’s leadership qualities, integrity, political maturity and commitment to the development of the state.
The former commissioners, who served alongside Garo during their time in government, said they could confidently attest to his exceptional administrative competence, dedication to public service and ability to unite people across political, ethnic and social divides.

According to the forum, Garo distinguished himself throughout his years in office as a dependable leader, an excellent team player, a bridge-builder and a grassroots politician whose acceptability extends across Kano State.
The forum described his emergence as Governor Yusuf’s running mate as a recognition of merit, loyalty, hard work and selfless service, expressing confidence that the partnership would further strengthen leadership and accelerate development in Kano State.
It congratulated both Governor Yusuf and Garo on what it termed a significant political milestone and pledged its unwavering support towards ensuring the success of the ticket in the 2027 governorship election.
The former commissioners also assured the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party members and supporters of their commitment to deploying their experience, goodwill and political influence to mobilise support for the party ahead of the polls.
They further called on APC members, supporters and stakeholders across the 44 local government areas of Kano State to remain united, strengthen internal cohesion and work collectively to secure victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
The forum stressed that unity, discipline and collective commitment remain essential to consolidating progress and delivering effective leadership for the people of Kano State.
It also prayed for divine wisdom, good health and guidance for Governor Yusuf and Garo, while seeking peaceful, free and credible elections and a successful outing for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
