2027: Ganduje brings Kano APC leaders together, backs Tinubu, Yusuf ticket

The political significance of Monday’s gathering of Kano State’s federal political appointees and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Kano State Government House, Aminu Kano House, Abuja, extended far beyond an ordinary stakeholders’ meeting. It reflected a deliberate effort to strengthen unity, reinforce party cohesion and lay the foundation for the APC’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At the centre of the gathering was former Kano State Governor, immediate past National Chairman of the APC and current Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, whose presence underscored his enduring influence within the party and his continued role as one of Kano’s foremost political leaders.

Held under the auspices of the Tinubu Renewed Hope Appointees Forum, Kano State Chapter, the meeting brought together ministers, presidential aides, heads of federal agencies, chairmen and members of governing boards, party executives and other APC stakeholders from Kano State.

One of the major outcomes of the meeting was the unanimous vote of confidence passed on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in recognition of his leadership and commitment to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.

The stakeholders also reaffirmed their determination to mobilise overwhelming support for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election while congratulating Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, on emerging as the APC governorship candidates for Kano State.

Beyond the resolutions adopted, political observers believe the meeting demonstrated the importance of experienced leadership in sustaining party unity. Ganduje, who successfully governed Kano State for two terms before serving as National Chairman of the APC, remains one of the party’s most influential figures, with extensive experience in political organisation, consensus building and electoral strategy.

His participation at the meeting sent a strong signal of continuity and consultation, particularly at a period when political parties are intensifying preparations for the next general elections.

The gathering equally highlighted a growing synergy between the APC leadership in Kano and federal political appointees from the state, with participants pledging to work collectively towards the successful implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Yusuf’s Kano First Agenda.

The stakeholders further resolved to close ranks and ensure the APC records victory in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections in Kano State in 2027.

For many within the party, Monday’s meeting was more than a routine political engagement. It was a demonstration of unity, consultation and strategic coordination among leaders determined to consolidate the APC’s strength in Kano.

As one of the party’s elder statesmen and a respected national political figure, Ganduje’s presence reinforced the importance of collective leadership, mutual consultation and a shared commitment to advancing the fortunes of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
