The Kano State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, has officially presented an appointment letter to Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir as the new Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.
This development followed the approval of his appointment by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Sunday. The Director of Public Relations and Enlightenment, Aliyu Yusuf, disclosed this in a statement made available to The Historica Nigeria in Kano on Monday.
While presenting the letter, the Head of Service urged Barrister Tahir to view the appointment as the will of Allah and to discharge his duties with diligence. He further advised him to carry everyone along in order to strengthen the ministry’s role in delivering justice not only for government but also for the people of Kano State.

According to him, the ministry already boasts of highly skilled legal luminaries, but God has chosen Barrister Tahir for this position, hence the need to respect colleagues and work in unity for progress. He also called on directors and staff of the ministry to give their full support to the new Solicitor-General, particularly in identifying priority areas where government intervention is needed, such as staff welfare.
In his response, Barrister Tahir expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and Governor Yusuf for finding him worthy of the appointment. He also thanked the Head of Service for his guidance and promised to run an open-door policy that will enable teamwork in achieving the ministry’s goals.
Until his appointment, Barrister Tahir served as Director of Public Prosecution at the Ministry of Justice, where he earned recognition for his track record of service. It could be recalled that his predecessor has been redeployed to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
