Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence as the “Best Supportive Governor in Grassroots Information Development and Effective Governance” by the Association of Local Government Information Officers in Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Idris Zakariya’u, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, who said the award was presented during the association’s annual national conference in Abuja on September 24, 2025.

National President of the Association, Comrade Jibril Aliyu Bisallah, said Governor Yusuf was selected for his administration’s reforms in grassroots information management, including capacity building for officers, enrolment into professional bodies, and provision of modern tools for effective service delivery.
He added that beyond the information sector, the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, civil service welfare, and people-oriented programmes have set his government apart.
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, thanked the association and described the recognition as merit-based and free of sentiment.
