Ganduje Rejects Report Linking Him to Remarks on Kano Funds

The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairperson of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has denied reports alleging that he accused the Kano State Government of mismanaging public funds through payments made to former councillors.

Ganduje, in a statement issued by his Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba, described the publication as false, misleading and entirely unfounded, insisting that he never granted any interview in which such remarks were made.

According to the statement, the report failed to provide basic details that could authenticate the alleged interview, including the date, venue, media platform, journalist involved or any verifiable source linking the comments to the former governor.

“There was no occasion on which Dr. Ganduje made such remarks. The publication is a deliberate attempt to misrepresent his position and create unnecessary political tension,” the statement said.

The former Kano governor maintained that, as an elder statesman with access to government officials at both the federal and state levels, he understands the appropriate channels for expressing his views on governance matters.

“It will be unbecoming of Dr. Ganduje to invite the media to publicly express his views on how governments are being run when he has direct access to those in authority and can offer constructive advice through appropriate channels,” the statement added.

Ganduje further stated that whenever the need arises, he discharges his responsibility by offering counsel privately rather than making unverified public statements capable of generating unnecessary controversy.

The statement also disclosed that efforts were underway to trace the origin of the publication, with a view to identifying those responsible and pursuing appropriate legal action.

“The source of this misleading publication is currently being traced and necessary legal steps will be taken once those behind it are identified,” it stated.

Ganduje urged members of the public to disregard the report and advised media organisations and individuals to always verify information before publication, particularly on sensitive issues involving public figures.

He reaffirmed his commitment to peace, accountability and responsible political engagement, while calling on journalists and media organisations to uphold professionalism, accuracy and ethical standards in public communication.
