Tinubu Appoints Namdas BCDA DG, Obahiagbon, Umeoji Get NDPHC Roles

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of veteran journalist and former federal lawmaker, Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas, as the new Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), alongside the appointment and reappointment of executive directors for the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, Namdas succeeds Dr. Dakorinama Alabo George, who resigned from the position to contest an elective office in his home state.

Born on January 1, 1969, Namdas is a seasoned journalist, public relations practitioner and politician with extensive experience in public service, legislative affairs and international parliamentary diplomacy. He represented Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State in the House of Representatives, where he served as the Spokesperson of the 8th House of Representatives. Before joining elective politics, he was Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna, building a distinguished career in journalism and strategic communications.

During his tenure in the National Assembly, Namdas also served as Deputy President of the Pan-African Parliament, representing Nigeria in continental legislative engagements. In 2019, he contested for the position of Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives but later stepped down in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-endorsed candidate, Femi Gbajabiamila, in the interest of party unity. Most recently, he participated in the APC governorship primary election in Adamawa State.

In a related development, President Tinubu appointed former Edo lawmaker, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

Obahiagbon replaces Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who resigned from the position to pursue his political ambition in Edo State. He previously served in both the Edo State House of Assembly and the National Assembly.

The President also reappointed Mr. Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services of the NDPHC.

Umeoji, who represented Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the 9th House of Representatives, had earlier resigned from the position to pursue his political ambition before being reappointed.

The Presidency stated that all the appointments take immediate effect.
