Chieftains and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday staged a protest in Abuja, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of alleged partisanship.
The protest, which took the form of a peaceful procession, saw party leaders and supporters march to the INEC headquarters in the nation’s capital to express their grievances.
Among those who participated in the protest were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, factional ADC National Chairman David Mark, and national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
Others in the procession included factional ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, Senator Dino Melaye, and immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, among others.

Also present at the protest was activist and electoral reform campaigner, Peter Randy-Akaah, alongside a large number of ADC members and supporters.
In a statement shared via his verified social media platforms, Atiku described the protest as peaceful and necessary to protect Nigeria’s democratic system.
“Myself and other leaders of the ADC are peacefully protesting against the partisanship of the electoral umpire. Our patriotic stance is aimed at safeguarding our democracy and preventing the enthronement of a dictatorship,” he said.
The development comes amid growing tension within the ADC and ongoing disputes over party leadership and political alignments ahead of future elections.
