Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, NIM, Director-General of the National Productivity Centre and North-West Coordinator of Tinubu Support Groups, has declared that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has surpassed former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in infrastructural development. Dan’agundi acknowledged that Kwankwaso governed Kano for two terms, spanning eight years, but maintained that Governor Yusuf’s achievements within his first tenure have exceeded those recorded by Kwankwaso throughout his eight years in office.

He cited achievements in education, including teacher recruitment, school renovations and scholarship programmes, as well as improvements in healthcare through the renovation of over 300 primary healthcare centres, recruitment of health personnel and the provision of free Caesarean section services for pregnant women. On infrastructure, he highlighted major projects, including the Tal’udu Flyover and the Dan’agundi Flyover, alongside the construction of more than 1,000 kilometres of roads across the Kano metropolis. He also pointed to the completion of five kilometres of road projects in each of the 44 local government areas, which he said had been initiated by the previous Kwankwaso administration but left unfinished.

On water supply, Dan’agundi highlighted the rehabilitation of the water treatment plant located at Goron Dutse Hill which supplies drinking water to residents of Kano metropolis. He also mentioned interventions involving the Challawa and Tamburawa Water Treatment Plants as part of efforts to improve access to potable water across the state.

On youth and women empowerment, Dan’agundi noted that Governor Yusuf’s administration had consistently introduced various empowerment programmes for young people at different times, while also providing monthly financial support of ₦50,000 to women across all 44 local government areas of the state. He argued that these interventions demonstrate the administration’s commitment to improving livelihoods, creating opportunities and supporting vulnerable groups.

Dan’agundi further argued that Governor Yusuf’s administration had demonstrated a strong commitment to development across Kano’s 44 local government areas. He maintained that the governor’s performance should be assessed through tangible projects, completed infrastructure and their direct impact on citizens, rather than political sentiments.

He also declared that Governor Yusuf has no serious political rival in Kano, challenging critics to present verifiable evidence of shortcomings instead of resorting to insults, personal attacks and unsubstantiated allegations.
