Nigerian Navy recruitment: See requirements, application deadline

The Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.

The recruitment exercise will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, according to recruitment guidelines released by the Navy on Monday.

The Navy said the application process is free and must be completed online, warning prospective applicants against paying individuals who claim they can facilitate recruitment.

“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” the Navy said.

Interested candidates are required to access the official Nigerian Navy recruitment portal, complete the application form and ensure that all information and supporting documents submitted are accurate.

Requirements

According to the recruitment guidelines, applicants must be single Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a National Identification Number (NIN), NIN slip or Bank Verification Number (BVN).

Applicants must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit in accordance with the prescribed military standards.

The Navy said candidates must have no criminal conviction by a court of law.

Applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026.

The minimum height requirement is 1.69 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for female applicants.

Educational qualifications

Applicants must possess at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings in WASSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB.

Candidates applying under the tradesmen and tradeswomen categories must additionally possess relevant Trade Test or City and Guild certificates.

The Navy advised prospective applicants to carefully study the recruitment guidelines and ensure they meet the requirements for their preferred category before submitting their applications.

It also urged applicants to rely on official Nigerian Navy recruitment channels and avoid individuals or groups requesting payment for registration or assistance.

Application deadline

The online application portal will open on October 2, 2026, and close on October 31, 2026.

The Navy reiterated that registration and other stages of the recruitment exercise are free and warned applicants against recruitment fraudsters.
