Kano Development: Ganduje’s Chief of Staff applauds Governor Yusuf

The Chief of Staff to former Kano State Governor and immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Muhammad Garba, has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what he described as transformational and developmental projects across Kano State.

Garba made the remarks during the commissioning of the renovated office of the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Kano Press Centre.

Speaking at the event, Garba said developments across the state showed that “Kano is really working,” while urging journalists to objectively report projects and other developments taking place in the state.

According to him, Kano State has historically been blessed with governors who contributed to its development, adding that Governor Yusuf was also making efforts to transform the state.

“I’m happy that our own governor is doing his best to transform Kano. And as I said earlier, I want to plead, let’s report what we see objectively, so that people will see and appreciate,” he said.

Garba, a former NUJ President, also recalled his role in facilitating the construction of the NUJ Plaza in Kano during the administration of former Governor Ganduje.

He explained that the initiative was conceived to provide the NUJ with a sustainable source of income through rental proceeds, which could support the union’s operations and members’ welfare.

He said the plaza could generate annual revenue that would assist the council in meeting its day-to-day financial obligations and addressing the welfare of journalists.

Garba also commended the leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel for what he described as efforts to leave a lasting legacy by providing members with a conducive working environment.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel, Murtala Adewale, said the renovation of the office became necessary to create a better working environment for journalists and enable them to discharge their professional responsibilities effectively.

He disclosed that the project received significant support from the President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Prof. Abubakar Adamu Gwarzo, and the Nigeria Customs Service.

Also speaking, Prof. Sule Yau Sule of Bayero University, Kano, commended the chapel’s executive for its visionary leadership and expressed his willingness to continue associating with and supporting the chapel.

The event brought together journalists, academics, media stakeholders and other dignitaries to celebrate the renovation and commissioning of the Correspondents’ Chapel office.
