APC Institute, Jagaban Support Group Partner to Empower 2 Million Nigerian Youths

The Progressive Institute (TPI), the intellectual resource centre of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has partnered with the Jagaban Support Group (JSG) on a skills acquisition programme aimed at empowering two million Nigerian youths and women.

The initiative, tagged “Skill Acquisition Programme in Support of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” is designed to equip participants with practical and digital skills to improve their livelihoods and economic opportunities.

The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, described the 2 Million Skills Empowerment Programme as a timely and strategic initiative that aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Yilwatda gave the endorsement during a meeting at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, describing the programme as the kind of grassroots innovation the party needs.

He said the initiative was in line with the APC’s policies and the programmes of the Tinubu administration, adding that the party would support the project.

Speaking during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the programme, the Director-General of TPI, Dr Lanre Adebayo, said the agreement provides a framework for joint initiatives focusing on advocacy, training and policy engagement.

Adebayo encouraged young Nigerians across the country to participate in the programme, saying beneficiaries would receive training in various skills and obtain certificates that could support their future economic activities.

He added that a press conference to formally announce the commencement of the programme would be held in the coming days.

The National Coordinator of JSG, Otunba Arc. Abimbola Olasanmiju, said the initiative represented the group’s contribution towards reducing poverty and supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, participants would be trained in areas including information and communication technology (ICT), content creation, artificial intelligence (AI), digital skills, entrepreneurship, business and financial literacy, as well as vocational skills such as phone repairs and maintenance.

Olasanmiju added that beneficiaries would also have access to starter packs, grants, mentorship and business networks to support them after completing their training.

The organisers said the programme is expected to provide young Nigerians and women with practical skills and opportunities that can contribute to improved livelihoods and economic empowerment.
