The Presidential Media Team has continued its nationwide inspection of projects under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a high-profile visit to Kano State to assess key federal and state-backed initiatives.
The tour, which commenced in the North-West, moved from Kaduna to Kano as part of efforts to showcase ongoing projects across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Speaking during the visit, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Community Engagement (North-West), Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, said the exercise was designed to demonstrate the tangible impact of the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
He highlighted the Cardiovascular Centre at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital as a major intervention, noting that the project was facilitated by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, as a constituency initiative.

“This is to show Nigerians that the Renewed Hope policies and legacies are real. The Cardiovascular Centre is an edifying project,” Yakasai said.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, said the Kano leg of the tour followed earlier inspections in Abuja and Kaduna, including sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway.
He disclosed that the team also visited an energisation project at AKTH, a solar farm implemented under the Energy Commission of Nigeria and facilitated by a member of the House of Representatives, Abubakar Abba Bichi.
According to Dare, the project is a four-megawatt hybrid solar installation, with plans for expansion to six or seven megawatts, aimed at providing uninterrupted power supply to critical hospital facilities. He added that similar solarisation initiatives are being replicated in key institutions, including Bayero University Kano.
“Across the world, solar energy is increasingly being adopted due to its eco-friendly nature. This administration is investing in clean energy to support critical institutions,” he said.
In the same vein, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital, Ortega Orga, said the intervention targets essential institutions such as hospitals, universities, and specialised academies to ensure operational efficiency without reliance on unstable grid power.
He noted that the initiative would address challenges of power outages, particularly in sensitive hospital units where uninterrupted electricity is crucial.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government also used the opportunity to showcase its own infrastructure strides, announcing plans to commission the Dan Agundi Flyover and Underpass Road within May.
The Commissioner for Works and Housing, Marwan Ahmad Aminu, made this known during an inspection, describing the project as a major solution to traffic congestion in the state capital.
“Dan Agundi is one of the busiest junctions in Kano. With this three-lane flyover and a dedicated underpass along BUK Road, about 80 percent of traffic congestion will be resolved,” he said.
He added that the project is being funded through federal allocations and internally generated revenue, assuring residents of transparency and value for money.
The tour further extended to Kwarin Gogau area, where a multi-billion-naira urban renewal project is underway to improve living conditions within densely populated communities.
In the education sector, the delegation visited Day Science College Kano, which has undergone comprehensive renovation by the state government to boost learning outcomes and increase student enrollment. Established in 1994, the college has a long-standing reputation for producing professionals across fields such as medicine, engineering, and other disciplines.
The team also inspected the Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital, a recently completed healthcare facility aimed at strengthening child health services in the state.
The inspection tour underscores a broader effort by both federal and state authorities to highlight ongoing investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and energy, as governments at different levels seek to improve service delivery and drive sustainable development.
The tour was attended by Bayo Onanuga, a prominent Nigerian journalist and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside key members of the Kano State Executive Council.
These included the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya; the Commissioner for Education, Gwani Ali Abubakar Makoda; and the Commissioner for Health, Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, among other top government officials and aides, underscoring the significance of the inspection exercise.
