Kano Govt Suspends Sheikh Lawan Triumph From Preaching

The Kano State Government has suspended Islamic cleric, Sheikh Lawan Triumph, from preaching over allegations of blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad raised by Islamic groups in the state.

The decision, announced on Wednesday, was conveyed through the Kano State Shura Council, the government’s top religious advisory body. The council’s secretary, Shehu Wada Sagagi, said the suspension was to allow Sheikh Lawan Triumph to appear before the council and defend himself against the allegations.

Sagagi explained that the restriction would remain in place until investigations are concluded, stressing that the council is committed to ensuring justice, fairness, and transparency throughout the process.

He further cautioned politicians against interfering in the matter, urging them to allow the council and relevant authorities to handle the case appropriately.
