The Management of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) has made an urgent appeal to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) to reconnect the hospital to electricity supply. This plea comes after KEDCO abruptly disconnected the hospital’s power supply due to pending electricity bills, resulting in the tragic deaths of patients on critical life support equipment.
This was conveyed in a statement signed by Hauwa Inuwa Dutse, Head of Information Unit at AKTH, who expressed the hospital management’s sadness over the incident. The hospital regularly settles its electricity bills using internally generated revenue and also procures diesel for on-site power generation to supplement KEDCO’s supply.
