Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appointed a former Commissioner for Education, Hon. Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id Kiru, popularly known as Majiɗaɗin Kiru, as Campaign Spokesperson II of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The appointment was announced following the inauguration of the campaign council by Governor Yusuf on Thursday in Kano, as the APC began preparations for the re-election campaigns of President Bola Tinubu, the governor and other party candidates.

Kiru, who brings extensive professional experience, administrative expertise and grassroots political connections to the role, currently serves as Director of Training and Programmes at the Progressive Institute (TPI).

A native of Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State, he previously served as the state’s Commissioner for Education and remains actively involved in the party’s political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

During the inauguration, Governor Yusuf charged members of the campaign council to conduct issue-based campaigns, urging APC candidates to focus on projects delivered for the benefit of the people and their plans for the future rather than resorting to insults and personal attacks.

The governor described members of the council as the party’s foot soldiers, tasked with securing victory for Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates across all levels.

He said the appointments were based on merit and the appointees’ capacity to mobilise voters, urging them to work tirelessly to ensure the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.

Responding on behalf of other members, the Director-General of the campaign council, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, pledged their commitment to securing victory for Tinubu, Governor Yusuf and all APC candidates.

He called for the cooperation of all council members, regardless of their positions, stressing the need for collective efforts to achieve the party’s electoral objectives.

Tijjani Gwarzo also said the council would seek divine intervention and embark on grassroots mobilisation across the state to secure massive votes for APC candidates.

Earlier, the Kano State APC Chairman, Haruna Doguwa, said Kano was among the first states in Northern Nigeria to inaugurate its campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
