Federal University Dutse Expels 11, Rusticates 23 Over Exam Misconduct

The Senate of the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, has expelled 11 students for their involvement in examination misconduct.

The University also rusticated 23 students for two academic semesters, issued written warning letters to three others and exonerated one student after reviewing cases of alleged examination malpractice.

The decisions were approved during the University’s 76th Regular Senate Meeting held on July 30, 2026, following consideration of the 18th Report of the Senate Committee on Examinations and Related Misconduct.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of the University’s Public Affairs Unit.

According to the statement, the 23 rusticated students will serve their suspension during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session and the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic session before resuming their studies in the second semester of the 2026/2027 session.

The University also issued written warning letters to three students, while one student was cleared of all allegations after the Senate reviewed the evidence presented.

The affected students cut across several faculties and departments, including Computer Science, Cyber Security, Languages and Linguistics, Library and Information Science, Primary Education, Banking and Finance, Plant Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematical Sciences, Political Science, Information Technology, Criminology and Security Studies, Agricultural Sciences and Taxation.

The University said the disciplinary measures underscore its commitment to upholding academic integrity and maintaining the highest standards in the conduct of examinations.

Rusticated for Two Academic Semesters (23): The University also rusticated 23 students drawn from Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Forestry and Wildlife Management, Library and Information Science, Political Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematical Sciences, Primary Education, Information Technology, Criminology and Security Studies, among other departments.
