Kaduna 2027: Gov Uba Sani Drops Deputy, Picks KADIRS Chairman as Running Mate

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has nominated the Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, ending his political ticket with the incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe.

The announcement was contained in a personally signed statement issued by the governor on Tuesday.

Dr. Balarabe, who currently serves as Deputy Governor, also held the same position during the second term of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Governor Sani described the nomination as more than a political decision, saying it reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, justice, fairness and equity.

“This decision is far greater than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate. It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration since I took the oath of office on 29 May 2023,” he stated.

The governor said Kaduna’s ethnic, religious and cultural diversity should remain a source of unity rather than division, noting that the state’s history underscores the importance of dialogue, inclusion and mutual trust.

He also highlighted his administration’s achievements over the past three years, citing investments in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, rural development and social protection programmes across the state’s 23 local government areas.

Governor Sani expressed confidence that the administration would continue to build on its developmental strides while promoting inclusive governance.
