Prof. Kurawa commissions classroom block, donates N200,000 to Kano school

The Chairman of the Gaya Polytechnic Implementation Committee and former Vice Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing education in Kano State with the commissioning of a new classroom block and a donation of N200,000 to Government Senior Secondary School, Abdu Naliti.

The event attracted education stakeholders, school administrators, teachers, students, parents and community leaders who gathered to witness the inauguration of the Alhaji Atiku Kurawa Block, named in honour of the Kurawa family in recognition of its longstanding contributions to educational development.

Speaking during the ceremony, Professor Kurawa commended the school’s management and teaching staff for their dedication to nurturing future leaders despite the challenges confronting the education sector.

He urged students to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their studies, stressing that education remains the foundation for personal success and national development.

“As students, you should remain committed to your education, work hard and uphold good character so that you can become responsible citizens and future leaders,” he said.

In recognition of excellence and outstanding service, Professor Kurawa presented awards and letters of recommendation to exceptional teachers whose commitment and professionalism have contributed significantly to the school’s academic progress.

To further support the institution, he announced a cash donation of N200,000 to assist the school in addressing some of its immediate needs and improving the learning environment for students.

Professor Kurawa also pledged to engage the Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, to advocate for increased government intervention and improved support for the school under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

In appreciation of his contributions to education and public service, the management of Government Senior Secondary School, Abdu Naliti, presented Professor Kurawa with an Award of Excellence, describing him as a passionate education advocate whose leadership, philanthropy and unwavering commitment continue to inspire both staff and students.
