Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Northern-based creative professionals to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing fairness, national unity and the potential benefits of the Federal Government’s creative economy initiatives to the region.

Shettima made the call on Thursday when he received a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the auspices of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Abuja.

The Vice President said the North stood to benefit significantly from policies aimed at empowering local talent, preserving cultural heritage and creating economic opportunities through the creative arts. He also assured Northern artists, filmmakers and musicians of continued government support for the growth of the entertainment industry in the region.

Shettima urged the creative professionals to remain supportive of the Tinubu administration and the APC, saying the benefits of its programmes and policies would continue to emerge across different sectors.

He also said targeted interventions would continue to be rolled out to support artists and other professionals in the creative sector.

Former Kano State Governor and immediate past National Chairman of APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, thanked the delegation for its support and urged members to emphasise justice, fairness and inclusiveness in their mobilisation for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Ganduje described Triple-R For Renewed Hope as an organic support group within the APC and called for greater investment in the entertainment industry, particularly through the provision of infrastructure and training for emerging artists in Northern Nigeria.

Also speaking, Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, said the campaign for Tinubu’s re-election would be based on the administration’s record and achievements.

Yari rejected claims by political opponents that the North had been excluded from federal appointments and projects, maintaining that the region had received attention under the current administration. His position was presented as a response to claims made by political opponents.

Former Katsina State Governor and Deputy Director-General, Parliamentary Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Aminu Bello Masari, thanked the creative professionals for their declared support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Masari said government policies and programmes were creating opportunities for the creative sector and encouraged practitioners to take advantage of them to improve their livelihoods.

President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Alhaji Dauda Kahutu Rarara, pledged the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and other APC candidates across the North.

Rarara said Northern creative professionals were committed to building a united front in support of the President and APC candidates, describing the group’s support as organic and based on its assessment of the administration’s performance.

The group’s National Chairman, Alhaji Lawan Ahmad, and Secretary, Alhaji Ahmad Bifa, also expressed their readiness to mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

They appealed for greater Federal Government support for the reorganisation and development of the creative industry in Northern Nigeria, particularly in infrastructure and the welfare of practitioners.
