FCTA Urges Greater Investment in Women-Owned Businesses
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has called for increased investment in women-owned businesses, saying greater support for women entrepreneurs is critical to inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.
The Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, made the call at the closing ceremony of the Women in Business and Impact Day of the Abuja Business and Investment Summit/Expo (ABIE) 2026, organised by Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL) at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Mahmoud reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Administration to promoting women entrepreneurship, inclusive economic growth and private sector-led development in the nation’s capital.
She said women entrepreneurs remain key contributors to job creation, innovation, family welfare and economic development, stressing that greater access to finance, markets, technology, mentorship and leadership opportunities would accelerate inclusive growth.

The Minister urged participants to translate the ideas, partnerships and business connections generated during the summit into practical actions and sustainable investments capable of creating lasting economic impact for Abuja and the country.
Mahmoud assured investors that the FCT Administration, under the leadership of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, would continue to invest in critical infrastructure, deepen reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and implement policies that encourage greater private sector participation.
According to her, the administration’s initiatives are aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on economic diversification, entrepreneurship, innovation, women’s empowerment and private sector-led development.
She commended Abuja Investments Company Limited, development partners, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and participants for the successful hosting of ABIE 2026.
Mahmoud expressed optimism that the investment commitments and partnerships forged during the summit would translate into measurable economic gains for the FCT and Nigeria.
In her remarks, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AICL, Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, said the first two days of ABIE 2026 had successfully projected Abuja as a prime investment destination.
Tamuno said the summit attracted strategic partnerships and landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at advancing the sustainable development of the FCT and Nigeria.
