Garo Receives Yusuf’s Award of Honour, Honours Qur’anic Education Advocates in Abuja

Kano State Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, has received an Award of Honour conferred on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and presented awards to distinguished personalities for their contributions to Qur’anic education and the promotion of Qur’an memorisation in Nigeria.

The awards were presented on Friday at the inauguration of the newly elected leadership of the National Qur’an Memorizers Association at the National Mosque Conference Hall, Abuja.

Garo received the award on behalf of Governor Yusuf and subsequently presented Awards of Honour to individuals recognised for supporting Qur’anic education and Qur’an memorisation across the country.

Among the first recipients was the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, the Katikan Sokoto, who was honoured in recognition of his service to the nation and support for initiatives promoting Qur’anic education and memorisation.

The award presented to Governor Yusuf, with the endorsement of former Kano State Governor, Dr Ibrahim Shekarau, Sardaunan Kano, acknowledged his support for Qur’an memorizers and Qur’anic schools across the country.

Other recipients included Dr Muhammad Sani Idris, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education; Hon. Balarabe Shehu Kakale, representative of Makarantun Daular Usmaniyya; and Dr Umarun Kwabo A.A. Jarman Sokoto, who was represented at the ceremony.

The ceremony brought together Islamic scholars, public office holders and other guests from across the country to witness the inauguration of the association’s new leadership.

It also celebrated individuals whose contributions, the organisers said, continue to support the preservation of the Qur’an and promote its transmission to future generations.
