IGP Approves Appointment of New Police Spokesperson

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

CSP Iniedu, who hails from Etinan Local Government Area, is a seasoned police officer with extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability, and administration.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Pure Chemistry from University of Uyo and has participated in several professional courses and trainings focused on investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.

The Nigeria Police Force described the new spokesperson as a highly experienced officer whose professional background and expertise will further strengthen public engagement and enhance communication between the Force and members of the public.

His appointment comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Police leadership to improve information management, transparency, and public trust in the operations of the Nigeria Police Force.

CSP Iniedu is expected to assume responsibility for managing the Force’s public communication strategy, media relations, and dissemination of information on policing activities nationwide.

The appointment takes immediate effect.
